Tower Modelling Introduction

Click the Tower button on the toolbar to define the tower characteristics. The user may select one of either:

• Tubular axisymmetric (or monopile) model or,
• Multi-member model.

The properties of the foundation can have a significant influence on the vibrational properties of the support structure. A linear foundation spring can be included in the monopile tower option. Alternatively, with a multi-member tower the user can also define non-linear pile soil stiffness curves.

Additional tower modelling options available include:

• Specification of inputs relevant for computing hydrodynamic loads using Morison's equation and also tower windage loads.
• Incorporate second order loading affects due to tower deflection via geometric stiffness models.
