    Turbine constraints

The turbine constraints apply when optimising a layout, and exclusion elipse serves as a visual guide when manually defining a layout: you aim for the elipses to not overlap.

The user can choose between elliptical and circular exclusion zones around turbines and define the long and short axes of the exclusion zone in units of the rotor diameter (D) of the turbine. This ensures that turbines are not placed too close together to avoid issues with turbine loads due to wake effects.

In complex terrain, you may also restrict turbines to be placed on steep slopes to avoid significant upflow effects.
