Design equivalent turbulence
Design equivalent turbulence calculations can be performed by running the energy calculation with appropriate settings and exporting the flow and performance matrices 10 or 11. We suggest you create a separate scenario to hold the special design turbulence energy calculation settings.
The process is as follows:
Ensure you have active turbulence intensity distributions defined in the Wind > Calculate wind climate task.
In the Energy > Turbine interaction settings
select the Wake Model Type of Modified Park.
- Uncheck Apply Large Wind Farm Correction: the Design Equivalent Turbulence calculation has its own large wind farm correction.
In the Energy > Frequency domain AEP](xref:wfuserguide_frequencydomainAEP) task select the settings:
Select to export FPMs and configure a file path, Check to export 10 and 11.
Uncheck Calculate Efficiencies as it is irrelevant when only considering turbulence.
In the Components > Turbine types task select the correct standard and class for the turbine type. Note you may only simulate one standard at a time.
In the Suitability > Design turbulence calculation task:
- Check run design turbulence calculation
- Select the design standard for the simulation.
- Configure settings appropriate to your standard and project. See the calculation reference for more information regarding settings.
Return to the Energy > Frequency domain AEP task and click Run Energy Calculation.
